Oliver’s Story

“Our legend of a son Oli was 15yrs old when he was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma. In the matter of 2 weeks he went from a funny sporty, active grammar school student to laying in Kings hospital having a 10 hour operation to prolong his life. We were told from the start it was terminal but we refused to believe this as he was only 15 and just beginning his life!

Oli underwent all the standard treatment at The Royal Marsden and we fundraised to get him immunotherapy treatment in Germany which seemed to be working for a good few months as Oli remained stable for 20 months, during these 20 months we spoilt Oli with fine food, posh restaurants (he was a massive foodie) helicopter rides, sports car rides anything he asked for we tried to make happen.

We and his sister Georgia held on to every moment and watched as the gruelling treatment took hold of him each time and he would end up hospitalised with the side effects or something he had contracted due to his low immunity.

Oli’s wish was to own and drive his own car like most 17 year olds so we got his provisional licence ready but the week before his 17th Birthday he had a massive seizure and scans showed his cancer has spread, Oli tried a trial drug which worked wonders on his primary tumour but didn't seem to have an effect on the new mutated tumours and in July there was nothing left for us to try, Oli then just wanted to be at home surrounded by his closest family. Oli passed away on August 25th 2023 surrounded by love and will remain forever in our hearts and missed for eternity as we navigate the days without him by our sides, making us laugh, showing us how to be brave and showering us with his kindness and love.

In Oli's memory we started up Oli Rocks which is where people take an Oli rock on holiday with them and leave it there and they post a photo on the page, this was our way that if Oli was unable to travel the world his name and story can.

Forever 17, Forever missed and Forever loved beyond words”
