“May our grief help turn tragedy into something beautiful”

— Maria

This is my mama, Isabel, and my two brothers.

My mama left on April 21, 2018 after losing her battle against a cancer of unknown primary (CPU). This is an uncommon type of cancer where the primary organ affected is unknown. She decided not to share her suffering with people and found a refuge with her loved ones. She left on an autumn day very unexpectedly with no clear diagnosis and doctors in shock. She didn’t suffer while dying. Even though I struggled to face that I was not there when this happened, it was the best thing for her not to suffer and that’s what matters.

It’s my desire that we gain a better understanding of CPU soon so that we can get the best treatments for these patients. Sending so much love and prayers to everyone facing this battle against cancer, or if you know someone that is going through it.

May our grief help turn tragedy into something beautiful.
