“Until your world is touched by this I think it’s hard to fathom”

— Esther

"The faces of two tired but still very hopeful and grateful people.

Stu continues to surprise me. He’s just finished up round two of his monthly chemo which consists of high dose TMZ in the morning for five days. Last month it totally wiped him out for weeks and each day is different to the last. Tonight he wanted to go for an evening stroll and I was elated so here we are.

We are eternally grateful for everyone’s support, encouragement and fundraising - the massive team effort to get Stu the treatment he needs in Germany is not lost on us. We edge closer to helping Stu get access to access innovative treatments that aren’t available for brain cancer as standard of care in this country, but we hope will be in the future.

We continue to be astounded by the tiny % of the UKs cancer research funding that is invested to find treatments that work and a cure for brain cancer - the treatment hasn’t improved in over 30 years and is partly why it’s still the biggest cancer danger for children and adults under 40. That’s not ok. It could happen to anyone. Even a fit and healthy 39 year old. We will not stop banging the drum for change to happen. Until your world is touched by this I think it’s hard to fathom.

Stu and I have been talking about how we as just two people can make a difference to future patients and families that have to go through this same journey as us, but we realise we aren’t on our own with this - you’re all with us, helping to spread awareness and hopefully help others. One of the ways we want to help is by supporting the TJF in their mission to help patients to access incredible care no matter their background or postcode - You too can twin like us with your own hoodies!!"
