Zoe’s Story

“Mum may not be here in person but we know she’s definitely here in spirit guiding us along our journey of motherhood”

Zoe’s daughter, Alisha

“Mum was kind and caring, working in childcare, always smiling & laughing. Married to Stuart with 2 daughters, Alisha and Jodie, Mum loved to party and you’d always find her on the dance floor.

Her friends often commented how they’d walk in the front door sober and out the back door drunk. Mum never knew how to pour an ordinary vodka and coke!
At the beginning of December 2015, after multiple headaches, prescriptions, and blood tests from the GP, a friend took her to the hospital and demanded a head scan.

On 23rd December 2015, Mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour. A few days later the doctors called to discuss the blood tests to which Mum responded “It’s too late, I know I have a brain tumour which is likely cancerous.”

The brain operation was scheduled for February 2016 however, Mum lost sight in one of her eyes, meaning the operation was scheduled for early January 2016. By the time Mum had her operation, the brain tumour was the size of a satsuma. Following the operation, the dreaded news was confirmed. Stage 4 Glioblastoma at the age of 39. We were all devastated.

In February 2016 Mum started Chemo and Radiotherapy. Mum celebrated her 40th Birthday on the 19th February 2016 and travelled to Devon in April 2016 with her close family.
Sadly, a few months later, all treatment had to be stopped due to a chest infection. Friends and family took part in charity fundraising events in aid of brain cancer charities for Mum.
In September 2016, we organised a Christmas party and Santa even visited!

On 26th October 2016 after a short 10-month fight, Mum sadly passed away peacefully at her Mum’s home with her family all around her.

Mum lost her life at the age of 40 in 2016, after losing her sister in 2011 to suicide at the age of 39, the family are closer than ever and remain positive to celebrate their lives. Myself & Jodie now have little ones, Ophelia and Brodi and we tell them what an amazing mother she was and what an even better Nanny she would have been. Mum may not be here in person but we know she’s definitely here in spirit guiding us along our journey of motherhood.”
