Harry’s Story

“His cheeky character and personality never wavered. He lit up every room with his beautiful smile.”

Nelly, Harry’s mum

“Harry was only 19 months old when he was diagnosed, he had only been unwell for a month but had become very unsteady on his feet. An MRI in December 2020 revealed a tumour the size of an orange at the back of his brain. He had his first surgery in Christmas Eve. He recovered really well from that but then we were told it was a stage four cancer called ETMR- embryonal tumour with multi layered rosettes.

He endured five months of intense chemo, devastatingly he then relapsed in May 2021; he then had to endure another 9-hour brain surgery in Liverpool. We were then sent to Germany for proton beam therapy during another Covid lockdown. We stayed in Germany for 9 weeks and his first scan in September 2021 showed another relapse, but this time, we were told there were no treatments they could offer.

He passed away two weeks later, on 13th October 2021.

Through all the horrific treatments and side effects, Harry was amazing. His cheeky character and personality never wavered. He lit up every room with his beautiful smile. We miss him so much, our lives and our hearts are broken.

We can not accept that there are no answers why…. we have no answer as to why our healthy 19-month-old suddenly had a brain tumour. Why was there a limited amount of options available to him?

We will do whatever we can to raise awareness and fund more treatments that are kinder for children with brain tumours.”
